Absolutely nothing makes a farmer happier than rain falling on his dry, parched land. There has been rain in the area and all around us, however, this is the first rain we’ve received in months. We are always happy someone is getting rain, but it’s hard not to feel envious, when you are not a recipient.
In hot, dry summers, grass doesn’t grow so you supplement feed with a little hay. Hay fields yield less, setting up a shortage of hay for winter, made worse when you feed hay in the summer. It’s not a good cycle and it’s not uncommon for this part of Texas. This rain just puts a little skip back in our step.
